2024 State of Lost and Found

2024 Lost and Found Hero

2024 was pure chaos—in the best way possible. Liff Happens didn’t just grow this year; we exploded (don’t worry, not literally). Record-breaking returns? Obviously. Happy users singing praises? Duh. And the cherry on top? We landed shiny new partnerships with colleges, arenas (what’s up, Wrigley Field!), and even airports.

Because let’s face it: if you’re balancing a wallet, keys, phone, and a $15 stadium hotdog, something’s hitting the floor—and we’re here to save the day.

This year wasn’t just about keeping up; it was about taking over. Lost your stuff? We got it back. Partnering in industries that didn’t know they needed us? You’re welcome. Liff Happens is starting to go everywhere, and honestly, we’re just getting started.

The Year of Reunions

This year, our partners helped return $8.79 million worth of lost items. Phones, wallets, IDs, and even jewelry made their way back into grateful hands. Phones continued to top the charts, with an impressive 90%+ return rate, proving that your devices really do want to come home (and they bring hefty owner gratitude when they do).

But let’s not forget the underdogs: keys, wallets, and eyewear might not get as much love, but every reunion story is its own mini-triumph.

What’s New in Tag-a-Kid?

We rolled out some much-anticipated updates to our Tag-a-Kid program, and you didn’t hold back in telling us how much you loved them. From simplified check-ins to new parent communication tools, this feature was a festival favorite, with 96% of surveyed users calling it “game-changing” or “super helpful.” One parent even said, “I’ve never felt so at ease at a music festival. Thank you for watching out for our little ones!” Cue the happy tears.

Festival Frenzy

From Coachella to The Governors Ball we logged over 39,000 items across events. Standout highlights:

  • EDC Las Vegas led the pack with 2,751 logged items, a 72.98% return rate, and an unmatched vibe.
  • Electric Forest dazzled with an incredible 79.94% return rate, proving that tree-hugging festival-goers really care about their stuff.
  • Bonnaroo wasn’t just about good vibes—it was about good recoveries, including the most keys returned of any festival. Because nothing kills post-festival joy like realizing your car is still at the campsite, and you’re not.

Battling the Dark Side: Theft

While our Protect feature helped prevent or recover 24% of reported theft cases, we know we’ve got more work to do. Theft remains a hot topic for 2025, and we’re gearing up with bigger plans to combat it head-on. Think better tech, tighter processes, and partnerships with folks who are just as passionate about safeguarding your gear as we are.

Looking Ahead

2025 is shaping up to be our biggest year yet. With new tech in the works, expanded theft prevention strategies, and even snazzier features for lost and found, we’re ready to take things to the next level. If 2024 was the year of the reunion, 2025 will be the year of prevention.

Thanks for being part of our journey this year—here’s to another year of keeping life (and your stuff) together!
