How to Add a Medical ID Contact in the New iOS Health App

  1. Open the Health App

    • Locate the Health app on your iPhone (white icon with a red heart) and tap to open.
  2. Navigate to Your Medical ID

    • Tap your profile icon in the top-right corner.
    • Select Medical ID from the menu.
  3. Edit Your Medical ID

    • Tap Edit in the top-right corner of the Medical ID screen.
  4. Add an Emergency Contact

    • Scroll down to the Emergency Contacts section.
    • Tap Add Emergency Contact.
  5. Choose a Contact

    • Select a contact from your phone’s address book.
    • Assign their relationship to you (e.g., parent, sibling, friend).
  6. Save Your Changes

    • Once you’ve added the contact and their relationship, tap Done in the top-right corner.
  7. Enable Emergency Access (Optional)

    • Ensure the Show When Locked toggle is enabled so emergency responders can view your Medical ID without unlocking your phone.
 

How to Set Up Medical ID in Older iOS Versions

    1. Open the Health App

      • Launch the Health app on your iPhone and navigate to the Summary tab.
    2. Access Your Profile

      • Tap your profile picture in the upper-right corner.
    3. Select Medical ID

      • Under your profile picture, choose Medical ID.
    4. Enter Edit Mode

      • Tap Edit in the upper-right corner of the Medical ID screen.
    5. Enable Lock Screen Access

      • Toggle on Show When Locked to make your Medical ID accessible from the Lock screen during emergencies.
    6. Enable Sharing with Emergency Responders

      • Toggle on Share During Emergency Call to allow your Medical ID to be automatically shared with emergency services when you call them using your iPhone or Apple Watch.
    7. Fill in Your Health Information

      • Add important details such as your date of birth, allergies, medical conditions, medications, and blood type.
    8. Save Your Information

      • Once all your information is entered, tap Done to save your Medical ID.

Your Medical ID is now set up and ready to assist in case of an emergency.
